“Listen to the people you respect, and take their advice” says Yacht Broker, Chris Cecil-Wright
Every week, as part of my Inspiring Leadership with Jonathan Bowman-Perks podcast series, I speak with a different guest who offers their insightful wisdom about all things leadership. This series is aimed at inspiring leaders, whatever level you are at. Whether you are starting out in your career, whether you are in a middle-ranking role, or whether you are a CEO or Chairman of a board – there is always something you can learn. This series provides you with the skills, stories, tips and techniques which you can pass on to those you lead, and your teams. This week’s guest is inspiring leader, is Chris Cecil-Wright, Yacht Broker & Explorer.
Founder of Cecil Wright who spent his childhood messing about on boats, Chris Cecil-Wright never dreamt he would grow up to become one of the world’s preeminent yacht brokers.
Having spent thirty years in the industry, during which time he was a founding partner of other yacht brokerages, such as Edmiston, today he’s renowned for running Cecil Wright, a boutique superyacht brokerage house specialising at the top end of the yachting market, to assist clients who wish to build, buy, sell, and charter large yachts.
The company was founded around a central desire not to be the biggest brokerage but the best. Cecil Wright is very selective about who they work with, and this approach allows for the creation of exceptionally strong client relationships. Cecil Wright specialise in northern European yachts over 60m, and in particular has developed close working relationships with some of the most prestigious shipyards in the world, including Feadship, Royal Huisman and Nobiskrug.
For Chris, career milestones have been the superyacht builds of MADAME GU, TANGO and HAMPSHIRE II but it is the relationships behind those constructions that have really left their mark. Shipyard owners and CEOs, designers, captains, project managers, lawyers, bankers and of course the Owners, all play an integral role in a project. Every completion ignites a shared sense of achievement. Ultimately, it’s about natural rapport and a mutual commitment to quality, integrity and authenticity. The Cecil Wright business is built on these principles.
With offices in London, Monaco, Jersey and Hampshire’s New Forest, the team, many who have worked together for over 25 years, are perfectly placed to manage their client’s needs with high level of personal service.
