#331: Solo Atlantic Rower (21) to Complete 3,600-Mile Unsupported Journey- Zara Lachlan
Podcast Details
In this episode, we dive into the incredible story of Zara Lachlan, a 21-year-old who is about to embark on a daring adventure this October. Zara will row solo and unsupported across 3,600 miles from Portugal to French Guiana, setting not one, but three world records in the process. She’ll be the first female to row this crossing solo, the youngest person to complete it in any boat, and the youngest female to row from mainland to mainland across the Atlantic—a journey that’s 600 miles longer than the typical Africa-to-America route.
Zara’s journey will be nothing short of epic, rowing 15 hours a day through waters teeming with orcas and sharks, and navigating waves as high as 30 feet. Amazingly, this will be her first-ever ocean crossing, and her first time rowing on an ocean will be the moment she sets off from Portugal.
This incredible feat wouldn’t be possible without the support of her sponsors, including Team Forces, Collins Aerospace, Telent, Civica, and Spectra Group. Through this row, Zara is also raising funds for two important charities: Women in Sport, Team Forces, Qioptiq and JET connectivity.
Tune in as Zara shares her top tips for achieving your dreams: push for what you want and make it happen. Don’t miss this inspiring story of courage, determination, and the power of the human spirit.
