Anita Liu Harvey – Director, Global Payments Strategy at Spotify. “The many facets of inspiring leadership” Early on in her career, Anita was hired as one of PayPal’s first employees in the UK and tasked with building the business from the ground up. She played a key role in launching its merchant services business and establishing PayPal as a brand in its own right outside of its parent company, eBay. She then went on to hold various leadership roles within Barclays, where she was appointed as the first ex-officio member of the Barclays Payment Solutions Executive Committee.

She also led the Women’s Initiative Network for its payment technology business. In 2017, she was awarded 9th place in the Financial Times and EMPower’s Ethnic Minority Future Leaders list. She joined Spotify in 2019 as Director, Global Payments Strategy. Having personally been the only Asian female on all-white, male leadership teams in the past, Anita knows that diversity adds tremendous value to decision making. She was a member of the Embrace network at Barclays and helped establish a new branch of their WIN gender network within the UK. She has also mentored many female colleagues, on topics including managing workplace prejudice and conflict. Anita was the first person in her family to go to university, having been born in the UK to Chinese immigrants. As a result, helping young Chinese people get into the UK workplace has always been close to her heart. Over the past 15 years, she has mentored several first generation Chinese immigrants and Chinese students, helping them with their job applications and supporting them as they adjust to life in the UK and to the UK work place.
