Sarah Mukherjee MBE, CEO of the Institute of environmental management and assessment (IEMA) brings a wealth of experience and life lessons. Sarah Mukherjee MBE, has been the CEO of the Institute of environmental management and assessment (IEMA) for over 2 years and she brings a wealth of experience and life lessons. She is especially adept at developing policy and engaging with stakeholders at the highest level. Her focus is on promoting good science, better regulation and best practice with the lightest environmental footprint.

Previously, Sarah was an internationally award winning journalist with 20 years’ experience of reporting accurately and impartially on a range of environmental issues, and of dealing with decision makers. She has deep experience of the water industry, crop protection and environmental regulation. She was previously the CEO of the Crop Protection Association for 3.5 years, Director of Environment at Water UK for 7 years and a BBC TV Radio and Online Environmental correspondent for over 18 years.

She has an MBA from the University of Warwick and an MA in Law from the University of Oxford.
