2021 – Dawn of Hope for A Better Year (Part 1)

So having learnt some very tough communal and personal life lessons in 2020, what can we look forward to in 2021?

  1. Next Normal. It will be the new “next normal”, we wont go back to our old way of life in so many aspects of work and life.As Winston Churchill said “when confronted by change it’s better to take it by the hand if you don’t it will take you by the throat”. We need to be highly adept if we don’t know what’s coming down the pipe control what you can control and don’t stress about the other things over which you have no control.
  2. Valuing Our Home. We will get used to working from home a lot more and adapting to a mix of office and home.Make your home your castle and a place of calm serenity happiness and enjoyment since you’re going to be in it so much of this year and in future years. If you’re not happy where you live then if you’re able to make the effort to move and be somewhere which will be conducive to both living and working in the same place.
  3. Pent Up Demands. There will be a huge pent-up demand to travel and socialise again when this is all over probably in late 2021 or early 2022.Somethings will be irreparably damaged by the pandemic and the recession and will never recover but other things like human interaction and travel will come back so just hold your nerve and be patient.
  4. Minimalism. Less is more and minimalism should come to the fore.It was Lord Occam in his razor who said “everything should be as simple as possible, but no simpler.” Don’t complicate your life with stuff and clutter and keep things simple and easy to maintain as possible so that you can be agile and adapt to new circumstances whatever may come your way.
  5. Experiences over Materialism. We really treasure experiences far more than STUFF. Whether the experiences are adrenaline fuelled or peace and tranquility with family and friends such moments are priceless.Don’t get too caught up in materialism and wanting more of stuff you already have. Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you already have.
