Top Tip

Don’t be afraid to be your true self, be vulnerable or ask for help.  Take care of your mental and physical health – don’t leave it too late to address personal problems.

Brian Heyworth, Co-Managing Partner Lansdowne Partners

I thoroughly enjoyed my interview with Brian and find him one of the most open authentic and powerfully vulnerable leaders that I have met. We had a fascinating and powerful conversation on many topics including mental health where he was refreshingly open.

Brian joined Lansdowne Partners in January 2021 as Co-Managing Partner and is the Chair of the Management Committee. Brian has over 30 years’ experience in global financial markets, investment banking and asset management. He joined Lansdowne Partners from HSBC Asset Management, where he was the Global Head of Institutional Business. Before that he spent a decade in senior management roles in Global Banking and Markets at HSBC; his last role was Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group. Before joining HSBC in 2006, he had senior client management roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan.

Brian obtained a MA in Economics from Cambridge University.

In addition he is the Chair of The City Mental Health Alliance, which operates in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. The CMHA is a corporate membership organisation dedicated to the promotion of awareness and improvement of employees’ mental health in the workplace.

Brian is one of the most open, authentic and inspiring leaders I know. He wisely uses his own experiences to speak about the critical importance of mental and physical health and how to bring yourself back from dark spaces to come back to full performance.

His Leadership tip : Don’t be afraid to be your true self, be vulnerable or ask for help.
